I know I said I was going to update these every Wednesday, but I changed my mind.
Mondays just make more sense since that’s my official weigh-in day. As I previously mentioned, I’m not “officially” part of this challenge, because I got in too late, so this is just for fun.
My goals were:
- No carbonated beverages. period. Success!
- Minimum of 3 hours of gym per week. Success! Spent just over 4 hours at the gym during Week 2.
- Cook dinner at least once per week. Fail. Didn’t cook anything this past week.
I feel bad that I didn’t cook any, but I hope to rectify that this week. I know what my problem is – lack of planning. Hopefully you’ll see a “success!” by that goal next week.
I’m going to up my gym goal; I’d like to get at least 5 hours worth of gym time next week. I’d also like to set a walking goal. Last week I walked a total of 9.75 miles! So, this week I’m going to aim for 12 miles. I’m also going to try to last 3 minutes on the elliptical (AKA Spawn of Satan). The most I’ve lasted so far is 2 min. 10 sec.
So my new Hot 100 Goals look like this:
- No carbonated beverages. period.
- Minimum of 5 hours of gym per week.
- Walk at least 12 miles for the week.
- Last 3 minutes on the Elliptical.
- Cook dinner at least once per week.
The Hot 100 Challenge is hosted by Steve and you can read more about it here.

Hi Josie! Thanks for visiting my blog. We did, indeed start about the same time. Great goals for the Hot 100! I love to cook, so I’m curious about what’s stopping you from cooking? Is it your schedule or a dislike of cooking or something else entirely?
Two out of three isn’t bad, but not nearly as good as a perfect score. Great work this week! Let’s make next week even better.
Great stuff!!!
Jane, it’s a combination of things as to why I don’t cook. I worked in the restaurant industry for years before a career change in 2002. So cooking is the last thing I want to do when I get home. And I don’t get home from work till 6PM or later. My husband gets home around 4, so for us it almost works better that he cook. He usually cooks about 4 nights a week and we eat out the other days. I’ve just made it my personal goal to cook at least once per week because I want to try new ingredients, new recipes, and new cooking methods that are healthier, so taking control over some of the meals would be helpful I think.
Ah! So it’s not that you’re not eating home-cooked meals at all, but that YOU aren’t making them? That makes sense. I worked in food service for a long time, too, so I get where you’re coming from.
Yeah, I probably should have clarified a little more in my post because it does give the impression that we’re not eating home cooked meals at all. LOL I want to try to make Spaghetti Squash (a first) this weekend, so I’m getting all the ingredients now to make it happen.
