Tangible Results and an Awkward Compliment
Posted by JosieNov 19
So, a very cool thing is starting to happen that I’m surprised is happening this soon. My clothes are fitting looser.
Now, it’s not like they’re “falling off me” loose. or “I need a belt” loose. or “OMG I need to go buy smaller clothes!” loose. At least not yet. Right now, it’s more like “wow, these pants actually zipped up without having to do acrobatics” loose. And this might be TMI for the guys, but I’ve noticed a difference in my bras as well. My cup no longer runneth over, I guess you could say.
So yeah. I suppose this is what it feels like to have clothes that actually fit comfortably instead of feeling like I’m squeezing into them everyday. It’s a good feeling. A really good feeling. I’m a visual kinda gal, so having tangible results, like actually seeing a difference in my before/during pictures and now with my clothes fitting looser, is a HUGE motivator!
For the record, here are my starting (current) sizes:
Jeans/pants: 24/26
Top: 24/26 or 3x (depending on brand, 2x)
Bra: 46DD
Shoe: 10.5/11 wide
The reason I put my shoe size is because I’m hoping that I go down a few sizes as I lose the weight. For years I was known in my family for having the smallest feet. All the women in my family had larger feet (size 11+) yet I wore a size 8. However, once I started having kids and putting on the pounds, my feet grew along with my body. So that’s why I’m hoping to go down a size or two in the shoe department.
Before I go I wanted to mention an awkward compliment I got yesterday – from my BOSS. Um, yeah. So I had told my bosses that I was trying to lose weight back when I first started in September. And I’m sure they can see that I’m trying because instead of a 32 oz soda at my desk all the time, I have water now. And instead of bringing Burger King back for lunch everday, I bring something healthy from home. So it’s been no secret to them that I’m doing this. Well, yesterday my one boss “D” told me that the other day he had mentioned to my other boss “P” that he could tell I was losing weight because of how loose my jeans were starting to be and the fact that I’m pulling them up so much. I didn’t really know what to say in response, but it made me so excited that it’s starting to be noticeable…ya know?! and from my boss! So, yeah, definitely awkward, but very nice to hear.

I am so glad for you! I yes, it is SO exciting when people start to notice. It is my coworkers that always notice my weight loss first. Probably because I work so closely each day. They have even asked me how I was doing it. Sure makes one feel proud of their accomplishments!
Keep it up Josie! You can do it. It is so nice to see and hear your exciting results.

That’s so great! Don’t worry, soon the clothes WILL be slipping off–and that’s a great reason to buy new clothes! And that’s a nice awkward compliement, but I’m sure it made you feel so nice!
Keep up the great progress!

Compliments & people noticing the loss are such a high & spur us on! How exciting! These people see you every day so that is even cooler because lots of times it is the ones that don’t see us that often that notice it.
CONGRATS!

People don’t realize that their compliments can be awkward sometimes I have had some doozy’s since I started losing weight. I try to have a sense of humor – it helps…:-)It is really fun to start seeing the changes in ourselves and our clothes . You are doing great Josie! Your results are motivating me to finally bust through my plateau. Thank you!

No matter how awkward that compliment was, I’m so glad that he said it! That means that all your hard work is worth it, and you are making some big changes!!
Congratulations!

That’s great, Josie — it might not have been the most elegantly-worded compliment, but it’s still a compliment! And I’d say that it means that your clothes ARE starting to slip off, if people are noticing you hitching up your britches throughout the day.

I think that is a great compliment, even if it was awkward. You are really doing well Josie. It is only time until your goals are met.
