No Pain, No Gain

Well, the big news today is that I actually jogged last night! :-D Yep, I started out with my 5 minutes on the elliptical and then hopped on the treadmill to get my walking in. My sister (who works at the gym) was there and I told her that I wanted to start jogging some on the treadmill, but was too scared I’d fall. (I’m super, super clumsy) She encouraged me to turn it up to about 3.8 mph and just try…and so I did! I guess having her there eased my fears about it some. I’d walk for about 30 seconds, and then I’d jog for 30 seconds and I did that for 2 miles. Day 1 of the C25K program calls for 60 seconds walking followed by 90 seconds of jogging for 30 minutes, so I’m definitely working my way there. My arm is MUCH better today, so I’m relieved that the soreness I felt from it was just ‘normal’ workout pain…my hip however? Man does it hurt today! I’m starting to have a whole new appreciate for the term ‘no pain, no gain’.

So did you watch Biggest Loser last night? Man, it seems like with each season, the contestants are losing more weight quicker. 34 pounds in ONE week? Are you kidding me? It took me 3 months to lose 28! It’s just so unreal to me…and seems so unhealthy. And when they showed James, who got evicted, I was stunned that he’d lost over 100 pounds so far on his own! Wow!!! I’ll bet it’s gonna be a great season. I’m not sure how much I’ll see, though, because American Idol is my first love and it’ll be on Tuesdays as well. Yes, I love these cheesy shows!

Well, I’m trying to fast today (with the exception of dinner tonight). No real reason as to why other than just to see how I feel and if I can really do it. So far, so good. Plan on going to the gym again tonight! I’m on a roll!

Great job Josie! This is awesome! Jogging…I knew you could do it. But please, don’t over-do it, okay?

Oh, and let me know how the fasting goes…very cool. Everytime I want to eat or get really hungry on a fast, I whisper a little prayer, and that seems to help. Regardless of how it goes today for you, I think it’s great that you’re tryign it and know you’ll grow to love the spiritual discipline.

Good job on the jogging! Sometimes, having a spotter or even just a cheerleader can give you the confidence to go for more.

I did see Biggest Loser last night. I’m glad they switched to the bike as a first challenge instead of having them walk/run like last season. They also seemed better prepared for medical issues.

You are going to be jogging a 5k in no time. I am so proud of you! I am glad your shoulder is feeling better. I saw the biggest loser last night. I usually do some cardio while watching it. I had to have my kleenex box near me. It is so darn emotional!

I skipped your comments on TBL, I haven’t seen it yet. My post from today details why. Also, WAY TO GO WITH THE JOGGING!!!!! You will get stronger and stronger as you go!!! But I’d also recommend you take it slow and don’t kill yourself doing it – again, read my post and you’ll see exactly what I’m talkin’ ’bout!

WOW, huge congrats to you Josie!!!! It all takes time as my post on patience said… our bod has to get used to this. When I first started jogging, it was hard but with time, you will get better AND as you lose weight, it will feel better! Very proud of you for doing it!

YES, the BL has some amazing people on there! Now, they are not doing typical stuff like us every day folks so we can’t compare ourselves to them for sure! AND, yes, amazing that James has done so well… good for him!

Like you, I have many things I record this time of year for TV. I know people hate that TV thing BUT for me, it does not stop me from working out so I don’t feel guilty at all! :-)

Great job Josie that you faced the treadmill!

I can’t watch the biggest loser in Holland but hey 34 pounds in a week? Boy I would be immediate at my goal weight. I think it’s too extreme to lose that much in one week.
