Yes, ME. Can you believe it? I hardly can. The other day my sister informed me that my gym offers various classes from yoga to kickboxing that are free to members. Well, there was a kickboxing class tonight and I got brave and decided to join in. My legs are pure jelly right now. OMG. Tonight, by FAR, was the toughest workout I’ve ever done in my entire life. Period. WOW! Ok, so I’ll briefly recap how it went.
She started us with stretching exercises. I really, really need to start stretching more, but that’s a topic for another day. I got a good workout just from the stretching! Then she started in what I suppose are basic kickboxing moves, punching to the front, jabs, kicking to the side, to the rear, to the front. Then we did lunges, squats, jumping jacks, and a whole bunch of other moves I don’t the names for. We also did some ab crunches on the exercise balls and finished up with more stretching. I felt like I was going to throw up at certain points, but there was no way in hell I was gonna quit. Uh-uh, no way. I had to modify a couple of moves because I didn’t want to aggravate my arm injury. Well, that and the fact that I still don’t have a sports bra. Yeah, jumping jacks and not having a sports bra don’t mix. AT ALL. Anyway, I can barely walk right now because I feel like my legs are going to come out from under me. I am sure to be sore tomorrow, but I feel AWESOME just thinking about all the calories I burned. I was also sweating, which, honestly, I don’t sweat that much, so you know I worked hard if I was sweating.
Whew!
After that I hopped on the treadmill and walked a mile at 3.0 mph. Oh, and since I haven’t blogged since yesterday, I should mention that I also walked 1.5 miles at the gym last night…so that puts me at 7 miles for the week so far. And FOUR days in a row at the gym. I ended the year with a BANG and I’m starting the year off PERFECT! (Thanks Steve for the motivation!.
)
Food related, my fast yesterday was pretty successful. All I had to eat all day was dinner (serving of spaghetti and a roll) and a serving of crackers before bed. I was hungry, but I just tried to focus on other things and whaddaya know, I made it.
Lastly, I wanted to mention my friend Lynne’s new blog. She is the friend I reconciled with a couple of months ago after years of no contact. Soon thereafter we realized that we were both trying to lose weight and since then have become great supporters of one another. She is also the one who invited me to join her work’s fitness challenge! Anyway, her blog is Losing Lynne and it would be great if you would stop by and show her some love.

You are welcome Josie! By the way, kickboxing sounds AWESOME!
Kickboxing?! Try kick@$$, that’s amazing! I’ve never taken a class like that. I wanna do a Zumba class, but with my foot…it’s gonna be awhile. Oh, and I’m in LOVE with your gym…if I’m ever in Florida again, I must go here! Checking out Lynne’s blog as we speak!
Great work on the kickboxing!!! You rock Josie…
Just to clarify, I am going to be doing my Worthy Cause Wednesday every other week as that is how I get paid, it won’t be weekly…thanks for reading and commenting!
Definitely recommend support for “the girls.” If you don’t want to invest in a sports bra yet, double up your regular bras. I finally broke down and got a Glamorise-I think it’s their Sports Max. It has a racer back and front hooks. Super supportive, especially for running, and reasonable on jms.com (I’m a 42 DD, so I can attest to the bra’s super powers; they make a back hook sports bra, but I found that it chafes too much for the high-impact stuff.)
The kickboxing class sounds like it is a really good workout. I am a big fan of hot baths with epsom salts for muscle pain from workouts. It really does make a difference. You are inspiring me with your exercise!
Kickboxing is not just a great exercise, but a great way to just VENT it out. I used to do Tae Kwon do, and I definitely…vented. Hee hee.
I love your writing style, by the way. It’s very personable and humorous!
Oh my gosh, kickboxing sounds wonderful!!!! I am so proud of you that you have built up the endurance to be able to do that!!!! That is really a sign. Even if it kicked your ass it’s a sign that you aree getting healthy and becoming an athlete.
You are phenomenal! Your kickboxing workout sounds like it really packed a punch (oh god, awful pun, but you know what I mean)!
Wow, what an intenste workout! I’m sure you’re paying for it, but it will also pay off on the scale, I’d bet. Great job on fasting, too!
Kickboxing sounds like great fun and a great workout too!
Good for you Josie! I’ve heard that kickboxing is an amazing workout. I’ll have to give it a try one of these days.
Yahoo for kickboxing! Sounds different from my classes but mine were at a gym specific to these types of classes & nothing else. What a great workout & congrats! I can see why you are sore!
Great job Josie! And you really should “treat” yourself on a sports bra, it makes exercising a lot easier. I’ll check out Lynne’s blog.
