How’s that for a title? This is gonna be one jumbled post of randomness.
GIVEAWAY
First things first, my friend Kat is having a giveaway on her blog for Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil…Check it out…you have until March 29th to enter.
C25K
She has also decided to start the C25K training program with Kim, Kelly, Craig, and Erin. I’m going to join them as well. As you know I’ve been working my way through the C25K for the past four months. That’s how long it took me to just get through Week 3! I think going back and starting from Day 1 will be good for me because I can work on my endurance and speed to better prepare me for weeks 4 and beyond. I’ve made a lot of progress since I first started to run in my workouts, but I still have a long way to go. My next running goal that I want to reach is to run a full mile without having to stop. (Right now, I can do about a half mile before having to stop.) After that, I want to be able to run a full 5K hopefully in time for this year’s Turkey Trot. Last year’s Turkey Trot was my first 5K ever and I told myself then that I wanted to run it this year.
BLOG STUFF
You may have noticed that I changed the layout of my blog. This has been something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. My previous theme had so many limitations and apparently, some security holes. I came to post a blog the other day and my site wouldn’t load, rather it was redirecting to a host provider that I had never heard of before and the page just said “Site Unavailable”. This happened once before a month or so ago and when I called my host to find out why, they didn’t know and while they were trying to figure it out my site just magically started loading right again. I was pissed off then because I didn’t understand how another host could have access to my site to have it redirect to theirs. So when it happened again last week, I wasn’t getting off the phone with my host until I had some concrete answers. Well, I may not have liked the answer, but at least I got one…my site was hacked and whoever did it added some type of code to redirect my site to theirs. Weird. So, for the past couple of days I’ve been restoring everything and making some changes to make the site more secure. I also (obviously) changed my theme. I had bought Thesis a couple of months ago, but just never got around to playing with it until now. Let me know if something doesn’t work right or if there are any broken links or anything like that. Also, I changed the way my site accepts comments and added an extra spam filter, so if your comment doesn’t appear please let me know. At any rate, it’s nice to finally have things like threaded comments. I’m still playing around with it – wow the options are endless – but so far, I’m loving Thesis.
PERFECT 10
It felt really weird yesterday not doing a Perfect 10 post. I don’t know why, but having those weekly goals really helped keep me on track (Thanks Steve!). So, I’m going to keep tracking my weekly goals even though the challenge is over. After my talk with Michelle (my gym owner) on Wednesday, my goals are going to be a little different than they have been:
- Eat breakfast every day this week
- Stay under 25 WW points per day this week
- Go to gym before work every day this week (M-F)
- No Soda!
- Walk/Run/Jog 10 miles for the week
- Work on C25K Program at least 3 days this week
- Ride 5 miles on bike or exercise bike this week
I know today is Saturday, but I’ll keep tracking these on Fridays just like I did for the Perfect 10. I don’t know what I’ll call it, maybe the Imperfect 10 like Pippa is?
104.5 miles walked/jogged/ran since January 1st. (2010 Goal: 500)
23.5 miles biked since January 1st. (2010 Goal: 300)
(3) 5K finished since January 1st. (2010 Goal: 12)

Love the new layout!
Good luck with C25K…I know you will rock it along with the other participants.
I am still doing weekly goals too as it really helped me focus. Your goals for the week look great. Lots of activity!
Go Josie!

Thanks Kimberley – I’m off to check out your goals now.
Yeah, I really do love the new layout. I hope the new format will help avoid having your blog get hijacked again! Threaded comments = awesome ! (I wish Blogger allowed them…)
And your (Im)Perfect 10 goals look great! Very challenging, but I know you can do them. Nice work. You impress me more every day with your dedication. But come on, no soda? Isn’t that kinda a gimme now? LOL!
.-= beej´s last blogblog…Week 50 =-.
haha, the soda should be a gimme, but I still struggle with it a lot. Having it there as a reminder helps!
YAY, good luck with C25K! I’ll be stalking your progress via Craig because I’m getting on his ass about running the 5K he signed up for in April.
You can TOTALLY do Turkey Trot. And! Running your first mile isn’t about speed. If you have to run at 1.0 to run the entire thing, do it (although I’m positive you can do it faster than that). And even if you feel like your heart is thumping out of your chest, don’t let your body win over your mind. Don’t stress yourself to the point of injury, but do stress yourself
I think it’s great that you’re picking up running and look forward to reading about your amazing progress!

I heard that Jess!! (mean glare)
just kidding…I need you to stay on me…i hate jogging! I dunno why I wanna do it so bad when I hate it. I guess b/c I feel like deep down I “can” do it!

JOSIE!! I’m so so glad you’re doing C25K with us!!!!! That makes me even more excited. Promise me when we hit week 3 you’ll help me out…I know I’ll be ready to flake out…just looking at what that entails makes me nervous as hell!
My goal is the 1 mile nonstop too. I have my reward picked out and everything…I’m excited–mostly just to be able to say I RAN A MILE!
I thought about doing the P10 again somehow, but I didn’t. I def missed doing that weekly post. It felt like I was forgetting to do something. Oddly enough, all the goals I was working on I pretty much kept doing in some form. Perhaps we formed new habits? Let’s hope
Let me know how you do on Day 1…but looking at your recent workouts, you’ll run right through it. Get it? RUN! ha.

Josie, I love the new look!
Also, lots of great goals for you & very excited that you have help in the gym too!
I know some people are not breakfast people first thing but personally, since I started that rule a long time ago, it really made a difference. If people are not first thing b’fast people, I suggest at least trying to get it by 10am when you would start that bad snacking stuff cause people get too hungry & go for anything. Plan for a good & healthy b’fast a bit later for the “not morn b’fast people” OR at least try to start eating it.
Go Josie!

I really like your new theme!
I also love your idea of making weekly goals. I had been doing that previously but I’ve been slacking off on that a bit the last few weeks. It really does help give a focus to your week!

I was wondering the other day why your site worked on my Google Reader, but when I clicked on it to load into your actual site, it redirected me. But then later in the day, I tried it again, and it worked ok, so I figured you or your host had fixed whatever the problem was.
I love the new layout! Glad you are joining us in C25K – I WILL finish it this time! I WILL!

I like the new layout, other than it is too wide for my monitor. That is part of the price you pay for modernizing the layout though. Don’t worry about it on my account though. I can handle it.
You aren’t the only one who has made Perfect 10 statements like you did in this post. It is really inspiring to think it really made a difference for people. There will be another challenge coming soon. I just need a break for a bit to sort life out some.

Oh man, internet issues like that drive me crazy. I’m glad you’ve handled it and it’s all fixed…touch wood! (or is that knock on wood? I get it mixed up)
Congrats on joining the C25 K!!! I hope it really benefits you both mind and body…and that you really gain some great friendships out of it!
I like the new layout and am so happy you are going to be joining us! I just tweeted about it…:-) Thank you for the shout out on the coconut oil giveaway. I wish I could give a bottle to everyone who enters. I am really thrilled you are joining us…:-)

Now I can run for 1.7 miles (8 weeks later)…
Good luck!
